00:00:40: we're the Auto Museum of Lowe and what i saw was really incredible.

00:00:48: It is an astonishing collection some familiar faces for especially up on the wall here.

00:00:53: You noticed that

00:00:54: What's that

00:00:55: was at your Rothman's car up there?

00:00:57: It's quite possible.

00:00:59: hang it the wall.

00:01:00: Yeah, yes Yes and encourage everyone to To visit that museum.

00:01:09: yeah its plus the fact that D era is really beautiful.

00:01:15: Its a side of Germany that I never saw before And honestly yes, he's beautiful.

00:01:22: I feel the same.

00:01:23: I've never been to this part of Germany before, it's very peaceful and then in the middle of nowhere you have this incredible collection?

00:01:28: Yes!

00:01:29: It is another way of life but its all about mobility for everyone.

00:01:35: today.

00:01:35: so...I suppose we are going to speak about cars isn't it ?

00:01:40: I think we should !

00:01:41: You made a surprise appearance this morning ,you're here on behalf of Genesis.

00:01:45: what was your involvement with genesis?

00:01:50: First of all, I think there is an aspect of life that they consider very important.

00:01:57: It's the timing.

00:01:59: and Sometimes That timings takes you into certain situation or may be considered as Providence.

00:02:12: in a way yes i am who i am because i was surrounded whole my life by incredible people, very specialized.

00:02:25: Very motivated about cars and racing And in a way I'm one of their result alone.

00:02:36: you're nobody globally.

00:02:38: i say that because You have to respect the ID and you have to be grateful.

00:02:44: old-to-old these People who ever passion or provoke emotions they have no for sure But they do the job in motor racing and you have to keep in mind I think a number ninety percent of The job is done before the start of the race up to the driver.

00:03:06: To finish the project And That's who I am had an incredible.

00:03:14: for one, someone told he was going to be a gardener or a gamekeeper, because that's what I thought it was going to be.

00:03:28: Sometimes you have some surprise in life but yes respect for all these people.

00:03:35: so now the answer is your question.

00:03:38: Yes Luc Doncavolk who is the creative officer of the design at Genesis Creative Officer.

00:03:51: I met him once, where he was honored by the price of automobile in a few years ago.

00:04:03: He offered me to visit Korea and then I visited Korea And discovered another way of life Another way of seeing life The Confucian tradition, respect for the people.

00:04:26: Respects to nature and parents.

00:04:29: I think there is a list of seven or ten ways of behaving in life plus the fact that they discovered the Hyundai Group.

00:04:40: They discover something which was very important to me.

00:04:46: it's the book by the founder of the Hyundai group And reading the book with the attitude of trying to make possible, the impossible.

00:05:02: That's what they were doing.

00:05:05: that book gave me a wish To be part of.

00:05:10: A program was offered to Me.

00:05:13: It is the Genesis Program and for those who don't know What it Is Yes, it's the luxury brand of The Group who is only ten years old and very successful.

00:05:27: So I became what they called a brand partner ambassador And now also racing advisor.

00:05:41: To finalize these few words It's fantastic to live the present.

00:05:48: The past is very important.

00:05:50: Here we have a museum, but you don't have to be nostalgic of the past.

00:05:57: You can be nostalgic from... ...the people who met in your life.

00:06:03: Yes all these people that you can be.

00:06:06: Nostalgia for those are still here or extremely nice and they're not there anymore But the reality out-of-that.

00:06:18: Yes, the present is very important and have been offered to be still in action at a certain age.

00:06:29: And I think that's most... ...the most important part.

00:06:36: Another thing it's very important as mentioned today….

00:06:43: …I said this second life Start when you have understand, and only one.

00:06:53: And that's what happened to me a number of years ago... ...and no!

00:06:58: Yes I consider this is the privilege to live with people who are project people doing and produce cars or outstanding with their own signature.

00:07:15: That makes a genesis different than anybody.

00:07:19: Probably you met Luc Duncan-Volk with, as I said the chief creative designer of The Group and he is himself signature.

00:07:36: so all together because it's group effort altogether yes we proceed to a permanent development, new ideas progress with one goal.

00:07:55: Represent Genesis and represent the Korean nation as well?

00:08:02: Absolutely!

00:08:02: I also have been into Korea

00:08:04: and

00:08:04: being intoxicated by their culture... ...I know exactly what you mean about just kind of something that's way-of life really appealing Of course...

00:08:13: You are in touch.

00:08:14: Absolutely, yeah.

00:08:16: Genesis entering the endurance racing championship next year.

00:08:19: we're kind of in what people are calling a new golden era for endurance racing.

00:08:23: at the moment The hypercar class is flourishing.

00:08:27: Why?

00:08:28: Is this a good decision for Genesis?

00:08:30: why does this luxury brand benefit from competing and endurance racing?

00:08:33: because it's important In my opinion that the project is called GMR.

00:08:43: That means Genesis Magma racing.

00:08:47: You have to know that Korean doesn't have any globally besides the rally experience, they've no DNA for motor racing.

00:09:01: and also developing a project like that it's showing What you can do as an engineer and what you can Do is a group effort into it plus the fact that?

00:09:19: It's an opportunity to develop also on certain aspect road cars.

00:09:26: That's The motivation, and I must admit This very big challenge.

00:09:36: But that's the charm of it.

00:09:39: You know If your dreams doesn't cause you any fear, that means they are not big enough.

00:09:48: This is big!

00:09:51: Very big and at the moment as the program has to do with the WEC, the championship for E-Pair cars next year –that's what we will be doing– We're proceeding towards building up a team And also the development of the car that we will use in a very close future, because yes.

00:10:20: We are in September and next race is in March.

00:10:25: It's going to come quickly.

00:10:27: Work isn't especially... Cruel series to new entrance.

00:10:32: I was at Le Mans last year with Alpine and i think by six hours both of the cars were out.

00:10:37: it Was their first entry into endurance racing.

00:10:40: so yeah, you know this better than anyone.

00:10:41: It's a very very challenging series.

00:10:43: for For new brands can you give us?

00:10:46: A little bit of insight Into how The development process is going some stories from that?

00:10:50: uh From the team.

00:10:51: i will make a remark If You win too easily you win without glory.

00:11:01: Definitely the challenge we are facing where we have roughly ten different brands competing for the same goal, that's a challenge we love and We're thinking non-stop positive.

00:11:18: I think this is very important.

00:11:20: You have to believe...you can make it.

00:11:24: Yes!

00:11:25: ...You are right It's a Challenge.

00:11:28: It's a human challenge as well, because what Orheim is the same aim that you have in a Philharmonic Orchestra.

00:11:42: If one instrument doesn't work it's not the same music anymore.

00:11:49: we have to achieve a project where everyone its interested of its own goal, because naturally we are all experts in a way.

00:12:05: So you have to proceed where the final goal is well infront of your personal ego.

00:12:17: so that's not...that sort of challenge will face.

00:12:21: but I think We've put into it The right ingredients.

00:12:27: Also, I think we are satisfied of the first few thousand kilometers with it.

00:12:36: With the car but off course We will have like everyone to progress non-stop To reach the goal and be ready in In March.

00:12:48: absolutely.

00:12:49: But i am confident that's a basic And we all our confidence.

00:12:53: we keep smiling.

00:12:56: Yes, of course.

00:12:57: There will be some up and down probably which is totally normal.

00:13:05: then we'll go as you know in twenty-twenty seven to IMSA To renew the experience on a different territory.

00:13:16: but yes We have few years to reach our goal.

00:13:23: The most important part really are people that you meet The people you meet and the human aspect, because I insist very much on that.

00:13:34: It's the idea to be together whatever who-you are it has too much between us And we have to get these automatism That you need in racing which is great drivers.

00:13:50: actually We have Andre Lotoreur for example and People Derrani.

00:14:00: They were very precious and they are very precious because their informations, Because they're all still very active.

00:14:09: They are performing well in IMSA And in the WECSERY for Andre.

00:14:17: He comes from a strong competitor In the race... ...and their advice is important also not only on the car, but also in a simulator because you have to know that today... ...you don't practice cars practically under track.

00:14:38: You make all of your experiences with the simulator and gain lots of time But it's done behind big screens.

00:14:48: So I must admit we are really happy at this moment

00:14:53: Absolutely.

00:14:54: Andre Lotterer, I saw at the Goodwood members meeting not long ago racing in an early VW Golf touring car sideways everywhere... The whole lap

00:15:03: is

00:15:03: spectacular!

00:15:04: He's

00:15:04: a very attractive gentleman too.

00:15:07: Handsome man?

00:15:08: Annoyingly handsome

00:15:09: man?!

00:15:10: He's

00:15:11: handsome and he isn't only professional on racing but also smart as well as good people running.

00:15:22: They are really attractive.

00:15:24: I enjoyed them very much and the first contact that i had with a team, few days ago lovely people into it.

00:15:33: so yes It makes me smile.

00:15:37: That's

00:15:37: really exciting And you must personally just be happy to see endurance racing in such a healthy state at the moment.

00:15:45: It's been up and down for a long time, if years ago there was one manufacturer?

00:15:50: No

00:15:50: it is not only up-and-down... ...it wasn't so long ago that a type of racing was beside the classic Le Mans race to win.

00:16:01: The race won but it was dying slowly As I know it from a long time ago, because my first Le Mans was in nineteen sixty-six.

00:16:14: Longtime...I always have known Le Mans for the games Ferrari against somebody else Porsche against Mercedes Benz.

00:16:26: It's already one or two sometimes three competed now we are ten.

00:16:32: so its really exciting very exciting competition, and amazingly you see in life nothing is predictable.

00:16:43: We thought it was ending?

00:16:45: No they had this new rule where the concentrate on limited budget, limited power in certain case... And there's that rule when you control under rear end of car The power, you can increase the weight.

00:17:08: Reduce the weight and increase the BOP, the limited engine and obviously it please.

00:17:17: And actually we have a record of spectators growing every year in this very big

00:17:24: Balance of performance is one of those things that seems to annoy drivers.

00:17:27: You're not supposed to speak about it, I mean the organizer don't like too much and there's a kind of agreement in way where you are not suppose make any comment on but reality everybody talk about.

00:17:49: On the industrial aspect, that means producing a car.

00:17:55: Well it looks attractive because as we are new also maybe It will help us in certain aspects but We have no fear.

00:18:07: That's what you have to keep in mind.

00:18:09: Absolutely Quick formula.

00:18:13: one question Do you see anything that endurance racing has done?

00:18:17: In order to reinvigorate the sport that Formula One could learn from?

00:18:23: Well, there is always something to learn on what you're watching and automobiles.

00:18:32: The specificity of car racing... Yes!

00:18:36: You have to pay attention to it but we hope will compete.

00:18:44: as far the success is concerned with Formula One because when They are very, very successful today.

00:18:53: But also endurance racing is success.

00:18:57: it's going up because don't forget in the past endurance racing was number one and Formula One was number two.

00:19:06: And then a very famous man called Bernie Eccleson decided to push on the accelerator To become professional.

00:19:16: anyway.

00:19:18: He put the base of success on Formula One today because there were plenty positive thoughts for car racing, for the racing industry and drivers.

00:19:33: And he made that positive result at the end.

00:19:37: but there is no but Formula one does their job.

00:19:43: we will do it in our side.

00:19:47: At this moment you have to concentrate only on the challenges we have, and there is a number of challenges.

00:19:56: But... ...the goodwill in Korean attitude.

00:20:02: I don't know if you know it.

00:20:03: The name's Son Nim.

00:20:07: You need to consider that people are around like your guests even though they do not know them well.

00:20:18: Pali-pali, that means when you have decide to do something.

00:20:25: You really go for it without delay and you concentrate on that.

00:20:33: You have Miri-Miri where you're putting everything in place And follow the decision.

00:20:42: There are many names who clearly explained what we were doing

00:20:50: practically fluent at this point?

00:20:52: Well, there is a name you don't know yet in my opinion.

00:20:59: It's a word that doesn't exist any language.

00:21:04: I know it the Bambara language from Mali about life generally its abarca or abarica.

00:21:19: Thank you for yesterday, thank you today and tomorrow.

00:21:24: And that's the way we are going

00:21:46: now.".
